Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family law. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement issues, step-parent adoptions and private adoptions for parties as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills, probate and estate administration along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 she assists parties in helping them resolve their matters without needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.
After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters that involved child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the children's parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to increase awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law such as divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the aim of providing an individual approach to every client's need.
