Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement issues such as step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 she assists parties in helping to resolve their issues without needing court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who would like to avoid the court process and litigation.
After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered abuse or neglect at the by their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice went beyond the realm of law as she was active as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state area.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law such as divorce child support, custody and guardianships, as well as estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the commitment to provide a customized approach to each client's needs.
